Tuesday May 21st started out like any other day.
Hunter was at school: I had the girls, and we were going grocery shopping.
I had just pulled into Costco and my phone beeped.
No phone call, but a voicemail.
It's Hunter's school. They NEVER call while he's in school.
Hunter had fallen at recess and wouldn't walk on his leg.
I rushed to the school and called Erik on my way. Erik told me what to look for and I did my "exam" on him and I couldn't decide what to do. Our ~wonderful~ insurance doesn't cover any instacare, so our options were to wait it out and go see his pediatrician in two hours or go to the E.R. Hunter wasn't in too much pain so we opted to wait. I was able to get some friends to help watch the girls, so I could take Hunter in.
We waited, but not too long.
The verdict: small fracture on his growth plate and a pretty severe sprain.
Treatment: in a normal adult, rest. On a 6 year old boy, Cast.
Waiting on the x-ray.
Casting
He picked green.
You'd never know he'd really broken anything.
He really wanted crutches, and they gave him some.
and figured them out quickly.
