Lake Tahoe

When Erik found out that I got lost and ended up in Lake Tahoe, he was very jealous to say the least. On our way home we stopped off at Lake Tahoe so he could have a night at his heaven on earth. We found a very nice hotel for $40 a night. I wouldn't mind going back sometime soon, but it definately would have to be warmer. This is Hunter as we were driving up the mountain. In his defense, it was really bright! Here are my boys as we were heading to the beach.
Although it looks like we're green screened in, we really weren't, it was just that pretty!

Daddy and his buddy at daddy's favorite place on earth.

On the California side of Lake Tahoe. Look Dad, there's an airport there! Can you see it?

Utah Trip Part 2

We had fun on our last few days of our trip. We got Hunter a pitching machine for his early birthday present. He loves it. He's actually pretty good. We also went to the dinosaur museum and then up the canyon for a picnic. Hunter also had an early birthday party. He got lots of great clothes and a few toys.

Prop 8

I know I know, MORE ON PROP 8?? And yes it is more, but this does a really good job explaining things. Please post this on your blogs so we can get the word out!!!

Our children are already bombarded with such liberal things and this could just make it that much harder for our growing families. Family is the cornerstone of our gospel and is just too precious not to protect any way we can.so...You've been tagged.PLEASE READ THIS no matter what state you live in.Failure to pass Proposition 8 will hurt children. If gay marriage remains legal, public schools will put it on equal footing with traditional marriage. Children will likely receive “age appropriate” information about sexual relations within heterosexual and homosexual marriages.Failure to pass Proposition 8 will hurt churches. The court’s decision will inevitably lead to conflicts with religious liberty and free speech rights. Society will become more and more hostile to traditional beliefs about marriage and family. Over time, greater acceptance of nontraditional marriage will be demanded of all people. This could impact the ability of any religion to teach and practice its beliefs.Including adoption agencies.A YES vote will not hurt gays. In California, the law provides for marriage-related benefits to be given to civil unions and domestic partnerships. Proposition 8 does not diminish these benefits. For your information:On Friday, October 10th, 2008 a first-grade class took a field trip to witness a lesbian wedding in California. Click Here for the article from the San Francisco Chronicle.A father in Massachusetts was frustrated when his kindergartner was taught about homosexuality at school by the teachers. He insisted he be notified in the future before such things were discussed so he could pull his boy out of school. He was taken to jail.Click Here for the story.A Catholic adoption agency In the UK closed their doors because of the Government's new homosexual equality laws. The Equality Act forbids discrimination in the provision of goods and services on the basis of sexual orientation. The law was forced through Parliament last year despite past Prime Minister Tony Blair's recommendation that Catholic adoption agencies be exempted from the rules.Click Here for more info.Earlier this month judges in Conneticut overturned the state law (just as the judges in California did) to legalized gay marriage. This is not just an issue in California. We voted years ago to keep traditional marriage as the only marriage recognized in the state of California, 4 judges overturned our vote…and we need to fight back. That is what this Proposition is about. This is happening everywhere and the leaders of the church and others have warned that the outcome of California’s vote will affect the way the other states vote.So PLEASE…even if you don’t live in California, put this on your blog or email this on. The internet knows no state line. You know contacts in California that I don’t…and so do your friends. Please pass this on as it could eventually have an effect on everyone!"Occasionally discouragement may darken our pathway; frustration may be a constant companion. In our ears there may sound the sophistry of Satan as he whispers, "You cannot save the world; your small efforts are meaningless. You haven't time to be concerned for others. Trusting in the Lord, let us turn our heads from such falsehoods and make certain our feet are firmly planted in the path of service andour hearts and souls dedicated to follow the example of the Lord."--President Thomas S. MonsonClick Here for excerpts from the Broadcast given by Elders M. Russell Ballard, Quentin L. Cook and L. Whitney Clayton. Vote by mail must be received by this time and can be hand delivered if necessary.YOU'VE BEEN TAGGED...Here's what you do:In the broadcast we were asked to "go viral on our blogs, etc" by Elder Ballard. This is my way of going viral. If you feel this is an important issue I ask that you copy and paste this post...and post it on your blog. PLEASE keep it at the top of your blog through November 4th. which you can adjust each time you post under the "edit post" option. The internet knows NO STATE LINE. You know contacts in California that I do not...as do your friends and their friends...and so on. Please do this. If not for your own children and the effect it could have on them some day...for mine! After you have posted this...email this to your contacts and TAG all your blogging buddies to do the same.THANK YOU!

Prop 8

I don't know how many of you are aware, but the saints in California are fighting a HUGE battle with Satan right now. Prop 8 is a proposition that will define marriage to be only legal between one man and one woman. If this proposition does not pass, there are consequences that many don't realize could take place. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and many other churches could lose tax-exempt status with the state of California. Our bishops could face many law-suits for refusing to perform a gay-marriage. Our children will be taught that gay-marriage is equal to a normal marriage. I don't have the time to continue, but please check out the links below for more information. I have nothing against gay marriage or freedom to get married, but this is going way over the line. If there was a way to allow gay marriage, without all these consequences, then let it be done!! Until then, LET'S PASS PROPOSITION 8!!!!!

14 and a half Hour Road Trip

Hunter and I took a road trip to surprise our families. We decided a day before we left that we were going to go. Erik had a bunch of midterm tests and we weren't going to be seeing him much anyway so we left for Utah. I had to talk to my dad about a few things so he knew we were coming, which ended up being a good thing. I called him as I was leaving and he wanted me to call or text him every hour so that he could keep tabs on how we were doing. I got to Sacramento with out a problem, but somehow I missed the turn off for I-80 and didn't realize it. I realized that we were in the wrong place 30 miles later when I ended up in Placerville. I could have just turned around, but after talking to my dad I just kept going and ended up in South Lake Tahoe. Hunter was asleep, but I enjoyed the view. This detour ended up costing me about 3 hours of precious time on the road. All ended up just fine, and we arrived safe and sound. 11:30 that night we pulled up to my parents house and surprised everyone. The next day we went and surprised Erik's parents. Here are just a few pictures from our trip.

This is Lake Tahoe. It's hard to see, but it's there.

Here is Hunter in Wendover. Almost home!

Train Town

Before we left for Utah, we went to Train Town with Erik's aunt and uncle. We had a blast running around on the little trains. Hunter and Erik got to ride on the carousel and had fun. Look at those handsome guys.

This was Hunter's first experience with a water pump. He loved it and got mad when we made him leave the pump alone. But he got over that disappointment quickly.

He had a blast feeding the goats and llama. He was a little scared of them at first and then after a little while he warmed up, but later on he wouldn't feed them.

We found this cool fort, named very appropriately, while we stopped at their little town. Hunter loved playing here.

Sorry for the delay . . .

I want to feel badly that I haven't posted in a while, but really I can't say I do.  I have been visiting with our families and have been loving it!  Erik will be done with mid-terms shortly and will be visiting soon.  When he comes he will bring the cord for the camera and then I can post everything we've been up to.  Just wanted to let you all know that we're doing very well!  GOOD LUCK to Erik on all 4 of his tests!! I love you baby!
